The BVCA/SACC program originally started fall 2003 when the organization was Bear Valley Community School, an entity funded by the Anchorage School District.
Camp Fire had operated the childcare program at Bear Valley but pulled out after several years when they could not keep it staffed.
The community school was asked to provide the child care services. When ASD stopped funding and closed the community schools, our program was allowed to stay at Bear Valley in order to continue the SACC program.
Bear Valley Community School changed into a 501c3 non-profit, Bear Valley Community Association, operating under a memorandum of agreement with ASD.
